Volunteer Training for AODA Customer Service
Starting in January 2027, volunteers for our Neighbour-facing volunteer roles will be required to have AODA Customer Service training. This training is mandated by the Government of Ontario as part of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act of 2005; the act stipulates that both staff and volunteers must be trained on providing accessible customer service and interacting with people with disabilities. For more information on AODO, please click here: https://aoda.ca/
On this page you will find links to the training that Parkdale Food Centre volunteers in the following roles are required to complete by January 2027:
- Lunch and Breakfast Servers
- Meal Count Coordinators
- Shopping with Neighbours
There are two components to the AODA Customer Service Standard training that you must complete:
- A free online training module created by the Government of Ontario; this should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Please click here to access the Customer Service Standards training module. Please note that while you are free to take any of the training modules offered on the AccessForward.ca site, you are only required to take the Customer Service Standard training module as a Parkdale Food Centre volunteer.
- A review of the Parkdale Food Centre “Accessibility in the Workplace Policy”. Please click here to review the Policy document.
Once you have completed both items, please visit this Google Form to certify your completion.
Following submission of this form, your profile in Bloomerang will be updated and you will be eligible to sign up for shifts that require AODA certification.
If you have any questions about this training, please contact Geof at volunteer@parkdalefoodcentre.org.
